Embracing Macrozoe, the Greek Path to Longevity

When I met Marina Efraimoglou, it was apparent that she is a visionary and a longevity innovator, committed to helping people live better and longer lives. I’m excited to join her at the Wellbeing Festival at Euphoria this June. Hope to see you there too! – Michael

Longevity has been at the heart of Greek life for centuries. But in Greece, we have a word that carries a deeper meaning: Macrozoe. Derived from the Greek words macro (long or broad) and zoe (life), macrozoe offers a more holistic vision that extends beyond simply living longer. It emphasizes mastering the art of living well – nurturing physical vitality, mental clarity, emotional resilience, spiritual depth, and above all, a clear sense of purpose and belonging.

My path toward Macrozoe began many years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer in my twenties. I underwent treatment, recovered and returned to the career I had worked so hard to build – eventually becoming the only female CEO of a publicly traded bank in Greece. What began as an inspiring challenge gradually led to burnout, and I felt a growing disconnect between the life I was living and the person I wanted to become.

Then cancer returned, and it forced me to pause in a way I never had before. I realized I could no longer ignore what I’d been pushing past. I did not feel truly healed, not in the way that mattered.

So I made a decision that surprised almost everyone around me: I walked away from my career and began again.

I spent years traveling the world, exploring different healing modalities. My studies led me into energy healing, Taoism, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Ancient Greek philosophy. I learned from remarkable teachers how different cultures approach health, purpose, and balance.

In 2018, I channeled everything I had learned to create Euphoria Retreat in the heart of the Peloponnese, at the foothills of Mount Taygetus. This UNESCO heritage landscape has been a place of healing for millennia. The light here feels different, the air carries something ancient, and the surrounding mountains invite reflection. Euphoria Retreat became the place I had been searching for — a sanctuary where people can pause, reconnect, and rediscover their path to living well.

At the heart of our retreat is what we call the Euphoria Methodos, a living philosophy inspired by the five elements to guide us through life’s natural cycles and bring balance to body, mind, and spirit. Winter (Water) roots us in purpose and resilience. Spring (Wood) opens our minds to possibility. Summer (Fire) kindles joy and connection. Late summer (Earth) grounds us in routine, and autumn (Metal) invites gratitude and release.

This philosophy also inspired something very special we introduced last year, the Euphoria Wellbeing Festival, bringing together an extraordinary global community of experts, practitioners, and curious minds exploring how we can live longer, healthier, and more meaningful lives. After witnessing the powerful connections it created, we knew it had to continue. We will gather again this summer from June 19–28, 2026

The festival is designed as an immersive experience where guests do not simply listen — they participate. Over ten days, leading voices in longevity, neuroscience, nutrition, emotional wellbeing, and performance will share their insights through inspiring talks and intimate workshops. Together, we will explore questions often lost in the pace of modern life: What does it truly mean to live well? How do we age with strength, joy, and grace? We’re honored that Michael will be among this year’s speakers, sharing his perspective on redefining what is possible in the second half of life.

Through a blend of ancient wisdom and modern practice, guests will experience daily movement practices, somatic breathwork, open-air mindfulness sessions, and workshops focused on emotional well-being and personal growth. They will have the opportunity to explore our Euphoria Methodos Advanced Medical Programs, cutting-edge longevity interventions, and cellular therapies designed to support health and vitality through natural methods. These programs have already been tested on more than 10,000 participants using our patented methodology, offering measurable pathways to improving well-being and longevity.

Yet what makes the festival truly special cannot be captured in a schedule. It is the sense of community that forms when people from around the world gather with curiosity and shared intention. A return to the body, to nature, and to one another.

Euphoria Retreat was born from my own search for healing and purpose. When I see guests connecting, learning from one another, and rediscovering their sense of possibility, I am reminded why I began this journey.

The Wellbeing Festival is, above all, a celebration of life – intimate, educational, and deeply human. It is a space to step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with what truly matters.

I very much hope to welcome you personally at Euphoria Retreat to share these meaningful days together.

I look forward to seeing you there.
